Buttons versus Tabs, and how to add them.

I'm looking to add a button somewhere up there (maybe between HOME and HELP.

Ideally, it would be a "contribute" button for the organization with two sub-buttons that link off-site to some donation sites (like Venmo for example).

There are subtle differences between these two write-ups on the subject, and I was confused with the references to "tabs" and "buttons".  Is this just word preference, or is there a specific difference I've missed?

in this case, they are the same thing....   in both cases, they are actually "buttons" per the normal use of the word.
