I'm supporting a forum with SMF that has installed the Postimage mod. It's really good, people just throw the file into the post and the BBC code with the link to the reduced image and to the original image shows up magically.

Today, I found out that Postimage is no longer hosting the images. They're still there but the server is Pixxxels, apparently a service of the same kind, in the sense that they host images for free, but with an orientation towards sexual content. Postimage seems to be now a more organized imaging service, no longer free. Whatever the story is, they diversified or they sold the hosting side of the business, I don't like to have this connection. They can serve whatever they want to those links.

Anyway, my question is what alternatives are available that can be incorporated into SMF. I really don't want to allow the users to upload to our server because the storage space is limited.

We're still on SMF 2.0 but already planning to upgrade.

the only one that I know about is this...

but I believe that it needs some tweaking to work.

The plugin (hxxp:imgzb.com/plugin [nonactive]) will add a button to the posting page and images are automagically placed in posts.

Thanks. I'll take a look at it. Can you elaborate in tot eh tweaking? I see that they have an SMF plugin. It doesn't say anything about versions.

I'll try to get something with an SMF plugin, just to keep a clean path to updates. But thanks anyway, I'll keep it in mind.
