My client reported getting the same 'No Direct Access' error on my forum. He was trying to send a PM.
The forum has been updated to 2.1.1 and there was no such error before.
Can SMF support help?

Is there any detailed error logged in the error log pertaining to this? What mods do you have installed?

Does the user in question has permissions to send pm btw?

Side note: please update to 2.1.2

I second @Steve 's advice. It is best, security/bug wise, to always run the latest version of Smf and third party mods/themes.
