Validation code expiration

First of all, thank you, as always, to everyone who supports us. I would like the validation_code field, that is, the forgotten password code field, to expire every 'x' hours. Any easy way to put it? I don't know if there is any SQL query that makes the code expire, or iii have to create a trigger, or i can do it through php code...
