Email validation error - a puzzler

Had an error log entry that indicated a user could not log in before they validated their email.

However, the user registered back in 2010, and has made a few posts since then - not often.

I tried reaching out to the user but my email got rejected as invalid delivery address.

My first question is whether I can look at any log in SMF to see when users modify their profile (such as changing email addresses).

My supposition in this case is that the user has tried to change their email address, was asked to verify the new email address, but since they made a typo in it, the verification email cannot be delivered.

Can I validate this hypotheses? (second question).

>> I actually found the answer to the above. In "Track User" I found the "Profile Edits" link and that shows that my supposition is correct. Now to just figure out how to contact the user to see if we can resolve their incorrect email address. The old email address also doesn't respond anymore. (Guess that's what happens with email addresses at vanity addresses).

How can this user recover from this? Is there some email link sent to the old email address that they can use? (third question).
