Old version of the forum, how to update it without breaking?

Hello,
I didn't have time to look out for the forum I maintain for a while now, and several updates have been out. The forum isn't used anymore but there are many handy tips and tricks in the posts, so I'd like it to stay online. And who knows? Maybe it could be active again some day...

What happened is last time I tried to update it to the following version I was on time, but the forum was broken after the update, the tool to repair didn't repair, and I had no time available left to wait for help from the community.

So I just restored the backups, files and database, and that was it, the forum was accessible and working right again.

Now I wonder if it is possible to bring it up to date.

php is 7.4
mysql is 5.7
SMF is 2.0.19.

Thanks for your advice.

Regards,
Mélodie

Yes, update smf to 2.1.4, php to 8.2 and mysql to 8

You will need to replace your themes, since 2.0 themes don't work on 2.1
You will need to replace your mods since all mods are removed during a large upgrade and some mods are not compatible,  either with the dmf update or with the php update

I always use @Diego Andrés for all my upgrades as I've never really got along with the update tool lol
