moving my board to a new host - issues - please help!

ok I am a mod on a board and our site is actually a redirect/mask to another site.  we are currently in the process of LEAVING that site and I am trying to successfully do this.

I am able to save the database, and then restore it to the new site.  but when I do, all the themes  are totally whacked.  it says the default directory is wrong... when I look at it, it is showing the old path on the old server.

and when I try to change it to the new path on the new server it TOTALLY messes it up and I can't see anything except the images (no text) and sometimes the whole theme just is blank with the word "index" on it.

please help?!
