As indicated, I am getting a HTTP 500 ERROR when trying to open my forum, which is located here:

My Forum [nofollow]

My website works fine; that's no issue, and the forum was working fine this morning. No changes have been made to it at all; I haven't even changed any settings on the forum this past year.

I ran an SQL command that you all suggested to me a long time ago on my PHP database:

REPAIR TABLE smf_log_errors;
It executed successfully, but it did not fix the problem.

I tried this only because I'm out of ideas, and don't know how to troubleshoot this. Any advice or suggestions are much appreciate. Thank you for your time.

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean? I'm not sure where I would find errors.

PHP version: 8.1.27

A 500 error is a server site error.  It should generate an error log on the server telling you why

I did a database check. It came back all "OK." No errors. I also tried to do a "repair" option on the server side, which ran through the process and finished, but still 500 error.

I then noticed a specific "errors" menu that I did not know was there, so I checked it out. Here's what came back:

[Wed Feb 14 11:54:18.560452 2024] [authz_core:error] [pid 350887:tid 23009315030784] [remote 157.55.39.9:6804] AH01630: client denied by server configuration: /home4/reationl/public_html/articles/error_log

Those came back from Tuesday and Wednesday, but it was working Thursday morning. Not sure what this means. Does anyone have an idea?

And what's in that error log that is listed there?

In short though- talk to your host. Looks like they broke something

I wanted to share an update for anyone else that might run into this.
(I hope this is not considered "double posting." I know some forums have issue with that.)

I contacted my server host, and they had to downgrade PHP version to 7.4 to fix the issue. Not sure exactly why that is the case because I think I'm using the most up-to-date version of SMF. I could be wrong about that though, and I'll have to double check it. I hope that helps someone else.

Likely this means that some of your mods aren't ready for PHP 8 even if SMF itself is.

Any mod that adds bbcode is an immediately likely suspect.

Wait....   you say that you are on the most recent version of SMF -- but you posted in the 2.0.x support section.

2.1.4 is the most recent version.
2.0.19 does support 8.0 but does not support beyond that - and 2.0.x will probably be going EoL in the (relatively) near future.
