PHP not sending any emails

A users of my SMF board told me he is not getting any notifications and when I check I find that this is the case.

I have looked around the settings - I am far from an expert - and the settings do not seem to have changed and I have attached what I am seeing here.

When I send a test mail, despite it saying that it has successfully sent the email nothing arrives in the account, therefore where it is being sent I know not.  The error log is also empty. 😒

Does anyone have any suggestions why no emails seem to be sent out from any threads or posts that are made?

It may be that the server (receiver) classifies the email as spam, because it is sent via PHP. If possible, use SMTP. In my case, this solved the problem.
