Currently have an issue of to many processes causing a 503 error.  I am unable to get in to do any cleaning or anything.  Is there a way to fix this?  Also after I fix it will upgrading keep it from happening in the future?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

well, we would need to have better idea of what's going on on your site -- because SMF does not normally trigger those errors.

How many users online?
What mods installed?

In short, depending on the CAUSE of the 504, upgrading may or may not have any effect

Other than the theme, no mods.  This just started without me making any changes.  GoDaddy (where it is hosted) says there are to many processes and cloudflare gives me this:
A timeout occurred Error code 524

If you're the owner of this website:
The connection to the origin web server was made, but the origin web server timed out before responding. The likely cause is an overloaded background task, database or application, stressing the resources on your web server. To resolve, please work with your hosting provider or web development team to free up resources for your database or overloaded application. Additional troubleshooting information here.

Other posters have said they are seeing this from too many Bots?
I do not know how to get in to see if any bot accounts exist.

Bots may be causing this, but even without them GoDaddy is not a good host for forums, or other dynamic content.

Any idea of a good host that would be easy to transfer my forum to?  Also do you know of any contractors that could help me resolve this?

Thanks,
Ben

We really aren't supposed to recommend one host over another but I'll give you the initials of one: i c d s o f t  :P

They'll do the transfer for you if you wish. If they don't suit your needs, there are many more here: https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=4.0

Crocweb is also a good host, they're inexpensive and have excellent support.  They will do the migration for you.  If you want additional help you can continue posting here, or post a request in Help Wanted.

Thank you all for the help.  I am working with a vendor to see about the change and hope to have a solution this week.
