Attachments size can exceed maximum forum allowed size

Hello,

My forum has maximum allowed attachments 4 per post, 512 kb total files and each file. However, today a user posted 2 files with each over 300 kb. I tried also myself and I can post 2 files with combined more than 512 kb.

Why is this allowed?

Also, what filetypes? I believe the limit is checked at upload, if the server modifies the files at all the result I think is not checked separately anymore and so the end result may vary a little.

Yes, Lex, sorry, it is a default setting I guess that only members can see the attachments. If you want, I can show you screenshots. When I attach, it is with red something like: 660 kb / 512 kb.

At least on my server, those seem to be correctly recognized as 643 kb / 512 kb on upload, so I see no issue there - But, yes - for some reason they are still allowed without even so much as a warning. 

EDIT: SMF will stop you from attaching a third file to the same post though, if at that point it's already over the limit.
