Paid subscriptions NOT using paypal?

I gather there's a built in paid subscriptions thing in 2.1 but as far as I know it only facilitates payments through paypal.

Is there another way of managing payments etc but leaving paypal out of it?

(Paypal are not necessarily friendly to the topic of the forum)

Either built in or modification options - happy for either solution if it does what's needed.

Yes it is only paypal.
There have been some attempts over the years by mod authors to add others.

I support. Paypal, stripe, and coinbase commerce though my SMF Store paid addon which has a membergroup option to change a members group.
