Since a few days ago I get several hundred "Guest" errors almost daily (or rather nightly). There are no posts, no IP, nothing to identify the source of this. The error messages all say:

 Guest

 https://domain.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=6528.0;attach=56731;image
 /home/easter71/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs.php (Line 5448)  Backtrace information

Type of error: Undefined
Error messageSelect
2: Undefined array key "groups"

The Backtrace information contains about then lines similar to these:
(All are related to lines in various .php files.)

#2: setupThemeContext()
Called from /home/eastxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs.php on line 4514
#4: obExit()
Called from /home/eastxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Errors.php on line 389
#5: setup_fatal_error_context()
Called from /home/eastxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Errors.php on line 238

Is this caused by someone trying to post as "Guest"? Guests can only read one or two boards, no posting possible. Any information on what could be causing this are highly appreciated.

TIA, Peter

Based on the URL I think it's caused by a guest trying to download an attachment they don't have access to.

What mods do you have installed?

A guest? There were almost 400 error messages, about fifteen login tries. And all within a short time span ...that is why I was suspecting a bot.
Thanks.

Another 300 errors over night. It shows 15 login attempts in one second. All by "Guest".

Also noted another problem. If an admin clicks the "Features and Options" link under Admin or in the Admin Centre, it always gives an HTTP 500 error, stating that the domain is inaccessible. It is the same if doing so from the Administration Centre. Otherwise everything seems to be working properly. Could this this related to the errors mentioned?

What does the SERVER error log say about the 500 errors?

HTTP ERROR 500

Pls note that SMF is located in the directory /forum for SMF. Direct access to the main domain or other sub-directories are accessible as usual.
I have a test forum of SMF on the same host/server, using a different domain name. That forum is accessible as usual. Just to clarify that the error is not present elsewhere and server settings (e.g. PHP) are the same.

That's not the server error log...

Not sure which Server? Meaning the host or something on SMF? The web host's error log is empty.

This error is almost always server related and therefore it should be logged in the server error log.

Kindred

If the error log is empty on the webserver, then you need to have words with your host.
Any 500 error should always leave a trace

The 'Guest' errors disappeared, only the 500 Error remains. Maybe some file is corrupted?!

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

If you see a 500 error, and your host's error log is empty, talk to your host.
