Hi,

I have upgraded my smf forum and lost one thing. I have on main page above boards recent topics and recent topics were also under all boards. I remember that I have put ssi_recentTopics .....somewhere but I do not remember where.
Thanks.

Ssi has not changed significantly between versions,  so your original page outside of smf should just continue to work

i think they are talking about the index.template.php/boardindex.template.php file would have been overridden during the upgrade.

Oh... did you use a portal mod?

Either way,  direct edit or internal portal using using within smf is incorrect.

Yes outside smf works but I would like to be on index page above boards ... or below.

That would be the best advice to use one to achieve this - as the change can then safely be preserved through upgrades without editing the theme...
Holder of controversial views, all of which my own.

And you DEFINITELY DO NOT want to ever add ssi functions in core template files.

Maybe I was lucky, but I've had it like this for the last 10 years, without any problem.

I don't really like unread messages because. When I read a post, it disappears from my unread list. If I want to look at that message again, it's hard to find it. That's why I'm using recent messages.

It was sound advice to use a portal to achieve that display.
Even if it's only for that one block code, you can use it like that.

Most portals have that block type available or you can make your own PHP block using a SSI function for it (or just copy/paste the function contents) to customize the display.

OK. Thanks to all. I have solved this with ezportal.
