Ooh, I've been waiting for something like this! Does it work for 1.0.6 too?

-Shayna
Yes, it works on 1.0.6, too.

Jay T

There was a mod similar to this somewhere.

I love it but only flaw is, users can still see the subject titles in the last post colum. No one seems to know how to disable this and maybe make it say "Restricted" or something.

SergeantAsh

I do get how this works now but it seems really overcomplex!? Why can the configuration not simply feature a checkbox within editing each actual board that states...

"If user has insufficient rights to access, do you want to HIDE or DISPLAY the board..."

Surely that'd be a WHOLE lot simpler than messing around with permissions!?
Lainaa"Moderation has been called a virtue to limit the ambition of great men, and to console undistinguished people for their want of fortune and their lack of merit."

Leaf

Well, that's the way how the permission works in smf. The board is shown or hidden according to user permissions.

Hi ... I just upgraded to SMF 1.1 RC3 from RC2

I had been using the "Password Protect Boards" mod quite successfully for the past number of months ... but it apparently does not want to work with RC3.   Your mod seemed to be a very viable mod for my needs.

I downloaded & installed via the Package Manager.   However, when it tries to Install the mod ... I get the following Error ...

"Duplicate entry '-1-0-enter_board' for key 1
File: /home/mywebspace/public_html/forum/Packages/temp/install.php
Line: 36 "

Should I just go in and delete Line 36???   Or is there a better way to correct this problem????   Warning ... I am a complete idiot when it comes to fiddling around with programming stuff.  ;D

The version of your mod I downloaded is HideBoard_1-0.zip and I downloaded it today.

Thanks much for your assistance
Peter

This mod only installs with fresh smf. If you have previously installed this mod before upgrading smf, you can remove this line from Package-info.xml and zip all files together to install the mod without changing the content of database:

<code type="file">install.php</code>

URPG

Where is the difference beteen this and access control by usergroup?

Greek

I have install it on 1.1.1 and I think there is no difference between this and access control by usergroup.
Totally useless..

Leaf

The access control by usergroup will not show the board to the user that are not allowed to see it.
This mod will enable user to see the board name in board index page but won't allow the user to enter topic list of that board.

Updated to version 1.1 to support forum upgrade. Database changes will be ignored if you upgrade the forum and you have previouly installed this mod before.

Steps to use the mod on smf 1.1:

1. Apply the mod
2. Enable advanced by-board permissions under "Admin Panel > Permissions > Settings".
3. Switch the desired board to "Local" under "Admin Panel > Permissions > Permissions By Board".
4. Click on "Local" for the board to open the Permissions by board page for that board.
5. Click on "Modify" for the user group to open the Local permssions page for that group on that board.
6. Check/Uncheck "Enter board" option in "General" category to allow/disallow that group to enter the board.

Thank you! I've been waiting for this to be upgraded!!  :D

I use to use Password Protect Boards
But now use Hide Board instead.
Hide Board Rocks.
Thanks for the upgrade.

This is a great mod and I've been using it for a while. There is one thing I wish this mod had. That is an option to allow search engines to browse your forum.

Any chance that this could be possible?

Hello,

This sounds like a very usefull mod, and exactly what I need however I cannot install it from the Package Manager.

When I click: "Apply Mod" all tests are successful, except the two "chinese_simplified.php" modifications which are skipped.

When I click "Install Now" I get an error:

Duplicate entry '-1-0-enter_board' for key 1
    File: /home/myusername/public_html/forum/Packages/temp/HideBoard_1-1/install.php
    Line: 42

I am running SMF 1.1.1 and have the following other modules successfully installed:

1. Hide Post 1.0.8
2. Award Mod 1.11
3. Read Topic Permission Mod 1.0.4
4. Post Prefix 1.1
5. Move Old Topics 1.2
6. Attachments Download Permission 1.0
7. Admin Modification Menu Section 1.0.2

How can I get it working?

Thanks!

qtime

Great mod!
Is it possible to see also the topics for all members, but without access to the topics?
I mean: board is visible, when clicking on the board, the topics are visible, after clicking a topic he or she will see a text to sign up.

Is this mod works on 1.1.2 ?

In order for the mod to work with 1.1.2 you can do the following.
Unzip the pacgage, find the info file and where it says 1.1.1 change it with 1.1.2, for both, install&uninstall. Zip it back and then you shouldn''t have a problem installing it with 1.1.2. version. Hope it helps
