Forum Title Won't Change

Running 1.1RC1 on a local server with mkportal.

Anyway, I'm trying to change the forum title within the Admin panel-->server settings, but it will not change.  I click save, and it just reverts back to the original.

Any ideas??

Thanks :)

Sheesh ::)

Seems every time that I ask for help on here, I find a work around within seconds of posting...sorry.

I changed the title manualy in Settings.php

Still...I'm curious why the admin panel function wouldn't work...

Check if the file is writeable.  CHMOD it to 777.

Huh? I wasn't saying anything about no one helping....just pointing out that I search the forums for an answer, don't find one, post a question, then the answer hits me..lol..everytime :)

Anyway, I'm running on XP home so the permissions for the file should be fine....

I have this exact same problem. with 1.1RC1

However, I know that the IUSR account does have write permission for Settings.php since when I change the Maintenance mode message it updates correctly - but the forum title which is stored in the same file will NOT change.  The only way to change this is to manually change it in Settings.php.

A general request - Try it and see if your installation has the same characteristics.

Server is Windows 2003 with php 5.1 and MySQL5

I know what you mean :)

Sometimes writing the problem helps to trigger the solution in your mind :)
Glad to see you got it sorted

Yes, I have SMF running on FreeBSD and experienced the same problem.

As I just reported, I believe it's caused because the names of some variables in the HTML form have its first letter replaced by some weird character.
vim vs Emacs arguments are pointless and a waste of time: vim is the best.

I ran into the same issue.

It is caused by having an apostrophy that is not escaped \', and you cannot escape it in the web form.

Its probably being filtered out by input validation when you submit the the web form,
so it reverts to the data you used before.
