how to change only certain text - add a class?

I'm using a black background in the body and the main cell, so the copyright, "jump to", "message keys" on the message index, ect, are all black too - I need to keep the body text black and only change these few items to something else - I tried to make a new class and add it to the template, but it obviously didn't work....
