MySQL on an alternate port.

I'm currently adding MySQL5 to our hosting park, later, if all websites run ok with MySQL5, MySQL4 will be dropped.

Since it'll be running on the same system as the MySQL4 install for now, I need to make apps that work with MySQL5 to connect to port 3307 instead of the default 3306.

Now, I checked the configs and some other files for SMF and can't seem to find where it defines the MySQL Port it connects to.

Is this not supported by SMF or is there a file I can edit to make this work?

Seems you can use the format for:
$db_server = 'localhost:3307';

to assign the port you want to use.

I don't know if the:

mysql.default_port =

value in php.ini is any use.

If that value overrides not using one (e.g. just localhost) then you may be able to change the port temporarily to test out all clients scripts on one server and then switch back.

If you allready have mysql running on your alternative port

In admin cp > Server settings > Server on which the database resides:

enter

localhost:3307
