Posts contain only 0

I am using Mambo 4.5.3, SMF 1.0.5 and version 3.19a_stable

When I go directly to the forum and log in (using index.php) I can create a new post and it shows up fine.
When I log in using the bridge and create a new post, the text is only 0. Everything else is right with the post (subject, username).

Where might I start to fix this, and what other info might you need?

thanks. i did do a search, got thru the first 6 pages without seeing that
