How much control over SMF from Joomla?

Installed the component a-ok (I think) and I can run through the config options (paths etc).

But that's basically all I can do from within the Joomla  console.

Is there meant to be any other administration options - like forum preferences, controls, layout controls etc inside the joomla  config menu - or do I do that all manually through my SMF install.

Further, am I correct in that I will have to play around with the layout settings to get the board to look remotely like my Joomla theme?

(I guess bottom line is if I administer everything for SMF by itself, I don't really understand how it is integrated....  Except of course for login integration)

Thanks guys

There are three main elements of bridge integration:

Wrapping within the Joomla template
Registration
Login/Logout

You will obviously still need to tweak your theme/template to your own liking.

regarding the wrapping SMF into  the template, it  seems to be all over the place - is this because of the default theme for the  message forum, or because i havent configured it properly?

What do you mean by "all over the place"?

The header area of the default theme does seem to overlap on the right side if you use IE, if that's what you're talking about.

This will no longer be an issue when SMF 1.1 RC2 is released, thankfully.
