Hello, I'm trying to make a SMF mod, I know how to make a mod but do not know the variables i can use to make my mod.

I have searched the fourms and cannot find any topics about making mods, I really would like to know the variable for the persons currently used theme so i can edit the links at the top of their forums.

Does anyone know how or can link me to a topic with a list of commands and variables i can use?#

Thank you all so much :)

Dannii

Have you got the Package SDK?

There are lots of variables, most are in the $context array. If you're wanting to know the theme so you can use the correct images, use $settings['images_url']. If you want the root directory of the theme use $scripturl.

thanks eldacar :)

One thing which puzzles me, sometimes a particular file isnt set by a users chosen theme and SMF uses the default skin file, so what if i look for a file in the skin directory which isnt set? Does it automatically point to the default theme file?

No, the package manager will alert the user that the file was not found and that those changes could not be made.

As a mod developer you only have to worry about the default theme. A few developers might provide buttons for other themes, or explain how to integrate it, but that is in no way necessary.

ok now i have it :d

There is 1 more thing i need help with more than anything else, if anyone could help me then i would be very happy :) and greatful!

I would like to show the header of the forum in an external page (the title links, everything above the forums) my page uses SSI.php, I'm hoping there is a function to do this!

I would also like something (function maybe) that shows the footer (users online, etc).

If there isnt any way to do this then the location in SMF where there built will be good :)

Thanks alot for your continued help :)
