Can't install past mysql

All the appropriate directories are chmod 777, but on the second page of the install, where it asks for mysql information, I fill in the values and hit 'proceed...' but it clears all the tables out and doesn't give an error of any sort. I'm 99% I'm doing everything right; I've installed SMF before. I'm using XAMPP and SMF 1.1 RC2.

Whoa. It works with 1.05...

With error:

Unknown column 'c.ID_CAT' in 'on clause'
File: /opt/lampp/htdocs/raps/forum/Sources/BoardIndex.php
Line: 82

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum files are currently at version SMF 1.0.5, whereas your database is at version SMF 1.0.2. It is recommended that you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

If I want to use 1.1rc2 I need to update my way up?

JayBachatero

Since you installed 1.0.5 you can upgrade it.  I'm not sure what might be causing the error in RC2.  Does it say anything at all when you hit continue?

It does not, it just clears all the fields back to default - 'My Community' the FTP password, and so on.

While trying to apply the MySQL update through package manager I encountered:

2: copy(SSI.php~) [<a href='function.copy'>function.copy</a>]: failed to open stream: Permission denied
File: /opt/lampp/htdocs/raps/forum/Sources/Subs-Package.php
Line: 1307

Subs-Package.php is chmod 777.

It's a host thing.  They don't allow creation of files I guess.  Go into Admin > Packages > Settings and disable the one that mentions about the ~.  I don't have a 1.0.5 install so no sure 100% of what is it that it says.

It worked, I was able to patch and upgrade up to RC2

I still don't know why it didn't install... If someone intends to take a look into that the box is running Ubuntu Linux 5.04 with Apache 2.2.0, MySQL 5.0.18, PHP 5.1.1 & 4.4.1 installed by XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html [nofollow])

JayBachatero

Glad to hear that worked for you.  I'm not sure why you weren't able to install RC2 directly.
