Usage of Up/Down arrows on a thread...

When I'm on an actual thread, I cannot use the Up/Down arrows on my keyboard to scroll up/down through the post.

When I do this on the thread or board index, it works fine.

IE 6.x (current)

hmm... firefox 0.8 works great...

opera works great...

but.. the first 2 times with ie6... the same as you wrote..  clicked a little bit in the page.. scrolling with the wheel up and down.. and it works for the moment.. and now it works forever.. don't know why...  i don't understand that..

Tyris

My click and scroll wasnt working here either... worked at every other site but SMF... and now its working again... maybe some sort of code change in the template?

I can't even imagine what would be in the code that would be able to mess with the scrolling. Maybe it does not scroll until the entire page is downloaded or something.  Kind of like how the "jump to new post" thing does not do it until all the graphics are loaded.

Fizzy

It's odd that it doesn't follow the #bot tag.
It works fine on my own IE6, no probs

Okay...

I've actually managed to replicate this - I don't know what causes it but I'm IE 6 and I expect it's a browser not SMF issue. Basically, if you are in any thread (including this) and have a scroll mouse (it may work with three button too), if you click the middle button whilst hovering over the main body of a post (not the signature, not the header, the actually body of the post) the indicator doesn't turn into the scroll indicator, nor does the scroll thing work where you move the mouse up and down AND the up and down keys don't work. To get the keys to work again you have to click in an area that isn't the body of a message (I believe).

Hopefully that made some sense...

Tyris

whoa... that IS wierd...
same things happening here... when I change tabs it seems fine... but clicking screws it...

Internet Explorer is one buggy beast.  This is probably because it doesn't support overflow well.

Tyris

heheheh, buggy indeed ^^
I'm counting down the days until I move to firefox forever ^^
well... not really.. but once FireFox stops crashing on some of our threads ;) and starts being supported by many websites... I'm moving over ^^

[Unknown]

It doesn't crash much at all, and I have no problems with it...

But I'm using the latest cvs version...

Tyris

are the crashes that were occuring in other threads fixed now...?
Coz those were the main things I was worried about really...

I think it is because the image loading on the browser is stalling when trying to download a users pic for his avatar. I noticed it only happened if the page didn't fully load. Probably would happen to if it pertained to a post that used a picture link it.

That's the kicker, Grudge.  Thanks for the heads up on this.  I knew I wasn't seeing things!
