Eliminate need for quotation marks in replies

Like phpBB, SMF requires you to put quotation marks around the members name when you quote all or part of the message you are replying to. In vBulletin, you just type in the member's name after the [quote= part.

I never understood why the quotation marks were deemed to be necessary in phpBB and I don't understand it in SMF either.

For people like me who use Quick Reply most of the time, it's just an extra annoyance.

The above is what I got when I hit quote on your post.  As you can see there is no "" around your name.  Quotes are only required when there are special characters in the name that might interfer with the parsing (like ] for example) and maybe if the name has a space in it.

Try typing it manually and you get ^ this.

Edit: Holy crap!

It must be different in 1.1 - I'm running 1.06 and it doesn't work there.

In 1.06, typing
some text
comes out as
some text

If so, woo-hoo!!! Can't wait for the release version of 1.1!! :D

If you are comfortable with Beta software you can give 1.1 RC2 a try.  IMO it is very stable.
