I have Uninstalled and deleted Ad Management mod 3.0 - Unfortunately it did not do a clean uninstall correctly, it has left some little gremlins behind in the form of a link at the bottom of my forum 'SMFAds for Free Forums'

I would very much like to remove this link at its sucking the seo juices out of my site....arrrrgh I will leave you with this quote from Bram stokers Dracula

"As the Count leaned over me and his hands touched me... a horrible feeling of nausea came over me, which, do what I would, I could not conceal."

sucking the seo juices out of your site?  Really?

While I admit that the copyright update should be removed when the mod is removed, having it there or not will have no effect on your site's Search engine results.

BTW: Check your theme's index.template.php - search for "copyright" (there are a few references, but you should see the smf copyright function plus this other one if you keep searching)

Kindred, you always seem to pop up with your opinion, which is always correct, very black and white and 2 dimensional..... at exactly the right time! even if your opinion was not asked for!

have you ever considered the fact that your not always right?
Are you Looking Forward To it?

Kindred

nope...   :P
I'm always right, except when my wife disagrees.

Seriously though, I don't quite see the problem.
"even if your opinion was not asked for"
(well, by posting in a public forum of which I am an extremely active participant, you are asking for my (or anyone else's) comment. If you only want a comment from one person, use PM or email)

Did you look in index.template.php?
(you also did not indicate which version of SMF you were using)
However, if you are using SMF 2.0, I can correct myself at this point, since I just looked it up - look in sources/querystring.php
search for "smfads"

and as for me being right (or wrong) - I assume that you were talking about my comment on your lack of understanding on how Search Engines work? If so, I'm not wrong, in this case.

another wild goose chase?

Are you running SMF 2.0?
If so, then the code which inserts the SMF ads copyright is added to the file Sources/QueryString.php

// SMF ADS
$buffer = preg_replace('~(, Simple Machines LLC</a>)~', ', Simple Machines LLC</a><br /><span class="smalltext"><a href="http://www.smfads.com" target="_blank">SMFAds</a> for <a href="http://www.createaforum.com" title="Forum Hosting">Free Forums</a></span>', $buffer);
$buffer = preg_replace('~(class="new_win">Simple Machines</a>)~', 'class="new_win">Simple Machines</a><br /><span class="smalltext"><a href="http://www.smfads.com" target="_blank">SMFAds</a> for <a href="http://www.createaforum.com" title="Forum Hosting">Free Forums</a></span>', $buffer);

// End SMF ADS

Look at the mod parser on the mod site and you can see for yourself.

if you are running 1.1.x, look in /Themes/default/index.template.php as I first told you.

Alright, come on you two, break it up. I don't want to get notified via email to this topic over you two arguing about your opinions that aren't even relevant to the topic at hand ;)

I did a custom install using the parse method since I am using custom theme. Everything went smoothly EXCEPT the Google ads only show on the home page. All the other pages have a grey area taking the place where  the ads should appear.
Does anyone have a good idea how to fix this?
I am using this theme: DS-Natural designed by DzinerStudio
SMF 2.0 final release and Ad Management mod 3.0

When running SMF 1 "Display ads on the bottom of the page" the ads always show up emidiatly below the actual forum stuff + answer buttons.
In SMF 2.0 the ads i want to display on the bottom of the page displayes below the bottom part of ads in left and right column (if the are higher then the "forum table".
The adverts are not at all as visible as before.
(Tried both displaying ads in left/right columns in portal, or via ad management mod, same result)

Is there any way to fix this?

How do you centre the ads, they just go to the left.

Use a center html tag around your ad code.

By the look of it another mod is interfering. The only way would be to do a manual install.

Hi guys. I am kind of new to editing my forum so you will have to bare with my stupidity.

I have installed this mod successfully, but I am having trouble getting my Google AdSense code to work properly. It seems the modification won't allow the <script> HTML tag. I'm not exactly sure, but does somebody else know of a way to get Google AdSense to function properly with this mod? I'm running the latest version of SMF 2.0.

Regards,
npiccoli

EDIT: I was able to determine the problem was in the code. Google was generating invalid codes and therefore they weren't working at all. The problem has been solved!

vbgamer45

Glad you got it working
