go into your themes/default/languages/modifications.english.php and edit it and delete all the stuff that has to do with my ad mod

Bigguy

Ok, so uninstall it THEN delete the stuff in /modifications.english.php ??? This wont cause errors leaving it in until I delete it ???

jerm

no, it wont have any effect like that

Bigguy

Ok, thanks for the awesome help dude. :)

At the risk of sounding foolish, or repeating another question, IS there a simple HTML code that can be used to display simple jpeg or gif banners?

I will learn how to adminsiter and use PHPads or something but for now, I would like to display a simple singular banner and I am apparently not intelligent enough to know for sure what code to use. Or maybe I am making it harder than it is.

Bigguy

I would suggest trying this mod out, it might be what your looking for.

jfigura

I have it installe don my board, but as I stated, I am unclear as to what code I need to put into the box in order to display a simple banner.

jerm

you will need to uploade an image somewhere onto your server
then in the textbox, type
<img src="location of image.." />

jfigura

Hi and Thanks. I did try that and a simple HREF, neither worked. I verified my path and it works thru IE so not sure what's happening here.

Guess its time to go into troubleshooting mode :(

jerm

seeing as your not that great with html

How would you make it dispay random ads?

Is it possible to display ads outside of the forum?

Thanks.

Anyone?

Thanks.

I may not be the smartes person alive with HTML, but I do understand what is happening here, and what is happening is that the mod doesn't work for me. Either it is something to do with another mod, or my theme possibly. Thanks anyway.

After paying more attention to this, I discovered that after installing, if I switched over to the "Default" SMF theme, the ad mod worked perfectly. When I switched back to my regular theme, it did not.

It seems that your install script only writes to the "default" theme. So, the question I have is, how does one correct this so that another theme can use it? Is it simply the action of coying the over written files from the default directory to my own, or is there another process?

Thanks.

Bigguy

Go into the install.xml file of the ad mod and do all the changes listed in there for the theme you want it to work for. Hope that helps a bit.

jfigura

Not being a coder, I did figure out how to change the paths in the install script. I have it working now.
