Do not use the built in editor...   it inserts unwanted characters...  Use a straight text editor like conText, UltraEdit or TextPlus, download the appropriate file via ftp, make edits and upload the editted file...

I do see inappropriate line breaks in the middle of your head code...

and I see the var smf_session_id line which should be removed...
