Email through forum

In SMF, when a member shares his email, it's visible to everyone, leaving it vulnerable to spambots. I know there is the spam-me-not mod, but the encrypted display isn't really appealing. What I'd like to have is for members to email each other through the forum.

In IPB, instead of displaying a member's email, there's a link that leads to a contact page similar to a PM, but it goes to the person's email inbox.This allows for people to communicate without stuffing their PM limit and it keeps the person's email address safe. If there's a mod for this, it would be great, but I'd like for this to be a forum feature.

Yes, this would be a nice feature. I used it on phpBB before I switched over.
