Alright, my problem is simple but confusing.
I just clean installed the new RC2. Everytime I try to click Apply Mod through the Package Manager it tells me "You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!" The odd thing is I've tried everything - I've CHMODded EVERY file and folder to 777 and even 7777 and it STILL doesn't work -- I even tried setting up the Options menu with my FTP information so it can CHMOD automatically!

I really hope I don't have to reinstall.... could someone tell me what the hell I can do?

Try 755 instead. Sometimes certain servers work better this way...
