Is there some hidden quick way to make a board read only?
Is it possible to make a "pre-defined premissions profile" called read only?

I believe you select permissions for that board. And then check every box next to every membergroup. And then apply "restrictive" permissions to all of them at once. You can use this method to any permission in mass.

I'll give that a try.
Any way to see what these pre-defined permissions set? without applying them?

Umm... good question. Only way I can think of is either the little help icon may have information in. Otherwise open up Sources/ManagePermissions.php and look for "restrictive", it lists them in there... bit of a hastle I know :(

Sorry... what you could do is apply restrictive permissions and then look at what permissions it gave for those members :)

Well, then, you can edit the board and deny posting new topics...

MrCue

will that span all the membergroups, or do i have to do each one?

If you click local, and click on the board's name... you should be able to check all the boxes and select "remove x permission."
