Open AIM development?

I apologize in advance if this is already somewhere else here in the forums, but is today's AIM announcement (http://developer.aim.com/) good news to anyone here trying to implement an integrated IM client into SMF?

Is there a mod in the works that will take advantage of this new move by AIM?

Just wondering...  I'm not expecting a mod today, just wondering if anyone is excited about this and thinking about modding SMF for it?

http://meebo.com is nice. Integration would suck and would be pointless IMO.
