I have installed the new SMF.  What i have done was:
1- create a clone of my current YaBB SE 1.5.4 database and used that for the upgrade.
2- Installed SMF per the FAQ.
3- Ran the upgrage.php.
4- Deleted upgrade.php

Now, I am having major issues.   I have error messages on the base board and a LOT of error messages if I click on ANYTHING.  If anyone can tell me where to even start I would be very greatfull.  The link to the forum is below.

For example.  On top of the SMF logo <the top of the board> I have these errors:

Notice: Undefined index: display_recent_bar in /home/theoscar/public_html/forum/Sources/BoardIndex.php on line 333
Notice: Undefined index: display_recent_bar in /home/theoscar/public_html/forum/Sources/BoardIndex.php on line 336
Notice: Undefined index: show_member_bar in /home/theoscar/public_html/forum/Sources/BoardIndex.php on line 342

This is the error I see where I assume it should read "The Oscar Spot", which is the name of the board that I entered in the settings.php
Notice: Undefined index: linktree_link in /home/theoscar/public_html/forum/Themes/default/index.template.php on line 374The Oscar Spot

However... these errrors DO NOT appear when I click on the admin screen.  It appears to display correctly, but the use of it is still full of errors.  I guess I just need a good point at which to start... or should I scrap this whole install?

It seems as if some entries are missing from the database. Can you check the smf_themes table in phpMyAdmin and check whether it has anything in and/or whether it has show_member_bar in it somewhere
I'm only a half geek really...

Please don't install and copy over then upgrade.  Copy then upgrade the copy..... no installation necessary, it'll only cause problems.

Ok, I completely dumped this DB. and started over.  I followed the setup instructions and get the exact same result.

The themes table you speak of is there, with 14 records.
0     1     name     SMF Default Theme
         0    1    theme_url    http://www.theoscarspot.com/forum/Themes/default

         0    1    theme_dir    /home/theoscar/public_html/forum/Themes/default
         0    1    allow_no_censored    0
         0    1    additional_options_collapsable    1
0    2    name    Classic YaBB SE Theme
         0    2    theme_url    http://www.theoscarspot.com/forum/Themes/classic
         0    2    images_url    http://www.theoscarspot.com/forum/Themes/classic/i...

??  :-\  ?? I have no idea how to get this working.  After I wiped out the DB I tried to do a fresh install (not the upgrade) and that worked wonderfully.  Then I wiped that one (becuase it does me no good to have a new board that does not use my current DB), and then I tried the upgrade again.  I really dont know what is going on or how to go about fixing it??

Unknown,
I am not quite following you here.  All I did was clone my DB so I would not be messing with my current DB for YSE.   I originally downloaded the upgrade package, but it did not contain the settings.php files, so I had to download the full installation and get them from there.  Maybe I am not quite following correctly.  I have just completely wiped this install out again, but don't want to start over until I figure out what I did wrong.  Any help you could offer would be appreciated.

***  INSERT STUPID QUESTION HERE ***

After looking at a few users installs, I have noticed that they are still in a yabbse folder!  When I do my upgrade... was I supposed to upload all of these upgrade files into the same directory as YabbSE??  and overwrite the ones with the same name??  If so... that is most certainly my problem, cuz I uploaded all of my files into a fresh folder.

*** END STUPID QUESTION ***

Yes, you do - make a new folder and copy all your YSE files into it, then upload the SMF upgrade files on top.

I made this same mistake - perhaps the upgrade docs could be clarified on this issue.

Ok... I did this.  The upgrade messages all said successfull, but when it was taking me to my board I get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: reloadsettings() in /home/theoscarspot/public_html/smf/index.php on line 52

At this url:  http://www.theoscarspot.com/smf

** Also, I was forced to go back and manually input the settings_bak.php becuase the upgrade watned it, but it was not included in the upgrade package zip. ***

Ok.. whew...  < as sweat pours off of my brow >

I did a clean install of yabb 1.5.5, did a dump of my database and backed up off my main board.
Then tested the new YaBB se forum.  It worked.

Then... I uploaded the smf upgrade AGAIN... and WOOOHOOO....

No errors yet.  Everything seems to be working.
