SMF <-> Joomla Bridge

I installed the  SMF <-> Joomla bridge on my server, step by step as indicated here :

the result was a blank index.php joomla page....

My Joomla version : Joomla! 1.0.8 (Stable [ Sunshade ] 26-Feb-2006 05:00 UTC )
My Bridge Version :1.1.2(aka 3.20)
My SMF Version :1.1RC2

Has the bridge been updated for joomla 1.0.8? I thought that I read that this is one of the third party components that 1.0.8 does not work with.
the bridge is working great for me under 1.0.7, and this is one of the reasons why we haven't upgraded joomla yet.
