How about the possibility to add more menu buttons ie "Chat" "Gallery" etc.

Not all users know PHP and have big problems just to add a home button for their homepage, my idea is at the admin console have a table to add the path for the button, and a textbox to add the href for that button.

Also having the option to add the button(s) in front or after the forum buttons.

Yes... ?

That is why i just came up with the idea so people dont have to be a PHP guru, to fix the extra buttons.

Or didn't i explain my self properly ?

PHP Guru ? *lol* The tutorial from Owdy tells you everything you need, or don't you have a text editor ? ;)

I don't have any problems to att buttons to my SMF board, but here's a newsflash for you, not everyone that runs a board gets a diploma in PHP coding at the same time.

Or is this Feature Request area just for ideas to the PHPgurus out there, and is it this area has no function since everyone can make their own BBS.

The idea is for all those newbies and non PHPgurus out there.

Owdy

There is no guru thing. You just have to copy and paste, why you need diploma in PHP to do that?  ::)

Thats not my point, since the question popped up there is a need.

I just thougt it would be a nice feature to add buttons and links in a fast and easy way, and with out the need to use ftp to contact the server.

You mean like smilie manager?  But if you need extra buttons, you have to had  installed some new feature (like chat feature) and know atleast some php to do that. So...

Grudge

There's no need to be like that - every feature request is equally valid. It is quite easy to add a button via the template system (anyone with HTML could do it). However, I'm sure that someone may make a MOD for it otherwise. If you have a particular button you wish to make, if you post the URL you want the button to point to and button image name that you wish to show I will happily tell you where to insert a line into your template to show it.
I'm only a half geek really...

If you can't copy and paste... imho... you're not qualified to be the WEBMASTER of a forum.  I mean, really, copy and paste is taught in middle schools...

But PLEASE !!! Get real...

I have been a programmer for over 15 years, I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS with the buttons !!!!

I just dropped an idea, and 10 minutes later im a nogood idiot that don't have an text editor, sorry for that i don't have english as my first language, and perhaps don't have a 110% satified expression.

I can't understand why my first post in this tread is so hard to understand, and what in that post says that i have problem to add buttons in my forum.

I know alot of people out there that get their forums installed by different services, and the so called webmaster has no idea about HTML, that is why i came up with this idea, but sorry for that.

I read a tread about why YaBB got out of hands, with alot of bull****** talking in the forums, and people that took their own roads, I understand them now.

I think you're problem here is language barriers, you're reading the posts much more strongly than they were made.

Point taken...

Got some irritated over all answers i got was that it was the one having problems with adding buttons. No comments about the idea.

No hard feelings...
