SMF Users not populating Joomla Users

I decided to back away from Joomla 1.0.8 due to compatability issues.  With a rollback not really working I removed all of Joomla including the DB tables and reinstalled 1.0.7 leaving SMF already installed.

I have now installed the bridge and the login form on front screen does log me into SMF but it is not transferring the user to the Joomla users database as I understand it is supposed to.  If I register a new user with it set to bridge registration then that user is registered to Joomla.

Any ideas?

Running Joomla 1.0.7 with 3.20 bridge on 1.1 RC2.

Also when I log in despite me setting the bridge to be wrapped it is making the forum front page fill the screen.  Is this related as my user is not "talking to Joomla"?

Before I take the Joomla plunge, what "compatibility issues" were/are you experiencing with 1.0.8?!?

Biggest one for me was incompatibility with the bridges to Coppermine.  On it's own it is probably worthwhile upgrade, but if you use a lot of 3rd party apps that bridge to the joomla user records you may issues.

Anybody got any solutions for my problem BTW?
