Theme\templates with bridge recommendations?

I have the following:

Joomla 1.0.7 (still at default solarflar_ii)
SMF 1.0.5 (still at whatever the default template is)
Bridge is 3.19a_stable

Of course, I am having the same main page formatting issues as everyone else has had with solarflare.  My problem is:  I LIKE solarflar, but only marginally capable of tackling trying to make it behave.  I have been looking through different templates and themes for both SMF and Joomla and just getting more confused.  The site will be for a Civil War reenactment group, and Confederate side, so I liked the grey in solarflare, as well as it's simplicity.

Is anyone already familiar with a theme and template (variable width?) that will cooperate with a bridge, and be somewhat similar to solarflare?

Ooops.  Had two windows open and didn't get this in the Mambo/Joomla board.  Can a Mod please move it when you can?
