Make sure everything is chmodded properly. Your "web" folder needs to be chmodded to at least 755, and so do all the other folders.

also may want to post a link to your forum.

Some hosts have other permissions though, mine maps have to be 705 , if I use 755 I get errors, so check that at your host help pages too .

My guess is that you used WS_ftp pro which frequently has problems uploading everything.  I gut this type of thing the first time I uploaded it to my server.  When I got this most of the files where there, but when I looked at them I saw that they were completly blank.

I now use Cute ftp Pro and have not had any problems with missing or incomplete files.

I second what nil says about FTP programs. I have WS_ftp pro at work and it does nothing but cause problems for me, and I have CuteFTP Pro at home and I love it :)

I use WS_FTP Pro, and have been using it for over 4 years without problem.  The key to using it is that you need to identify which file extensions get transferred in which mode.

I use SmartFTP. It's a very good FTP program, IMO. Unfortunately, make sure you get the latest releases of it or else it like to open up internet explorer windows to their web site to no end. Trust me, I know.

I'm using ws_ftp ... I've had little trouble...
has a few little annoyances, but I doubt any less than any other software...

I currently use SmartFTP and I'm very pleased with it's flawless operation. I suppose the model is a recent version as it never tried to access their website. I'm sold on it, I'm purchasing a licence and upgrading from the demo to see what other features it has. I have uploaded and set up YaBBSE in the past with no problems and now SMF with SmartFTP, works great.
