Was wondering if the SMF crew had any plans or thoughts on making any official SMF mods?

Would be very nice, in general, to have popular mods be professionally coded, released, kept up to date, etc.!

I think that if just having a lot features, ones that may come standard with other forum software, is not as much a priority as other things, like security, then having offical mods would help to make up for those features that aren't standard. It would; hopefully, help to placate anyone who would complain about the lack of (certain) features while helping to prevent against bloat.

Although this would be a good idea I don't think there are any mods that would be used by a large proportion of the community.

The biggest mod is tinyportal which is already made by a member of the team

I love my own Board Viewers Mod ;) Anyone who heard the mod (and who has default theme) is using it, as far as I know (as far as I hope) :P

Well, what I'm thinking is that SMF seems to be trying to make an overall standard board, to meet minimal requirements to users in various niches. It seems, to me, that it's being developed not to cater to just small site / for personal uses, but also as base line sotware for large companies and corporations.

So, my thought, is that if there are certian mods that are used in one niche more than others, those mods could be developed as official mods because they fit in more with standard needs of a certain niche. As just one example, 'redirect boards' could be useful for large companies and corporations, at least more useful for them as opposed to small sites / for personal uses. If they could be developed, released, kept up to date, etc. professionally, that's one less feature that sites that would use that would complain about not being a part of the software.
