Auto-prune error log?

On my SMF 1.1 RC2 forum, I've had troubles with the package manager.  This resulted in it printing 5+ PAGES of errors every SECOND.  This also seems to happen all the time on little things...  Then I accidentally screwed up my forum bad and backed up the database to restore it on a fresh SMF.  It was 177 MB! 174 of those MB's were the error log, which had stretched to almost 92000 pages.  This was after only 5 months of use.  I had never looked because I had never seen any errors, therefore had no reason to look at the log.  I could have had my hosting top over the limit without knowing.

I think there should be an option to automatically prune the error log every X days.  This way we have a choice other than "on" or "off" in case we really need to see the log. Most of the time these errors aren't even fatal or of any importance, just little things.  Any thoughts on adding this?  ...or have I simply not seen the option?
