major problem on a reinstall--Unknown column 'a.attachmentType' in 'field list'

Hello all,

I had a double whammy today.  I had some major trouble with the files on my server and lost the files for my forum.  I had backed up my attachments file and also my database, but had to reinstall the smf program.  I did so in the same folder on my server space and was able to go through set up again with no problem--and got a blank forum.  It appears that I also managed to somehow delete that database from my ISP, so I had to create a new database to put the backup into (this resulted in a new number for that database, but I linked the new forum to that correct database.

The problem is that when I reloaded my backed up database and then checked my forum, all I got was a white screen that said:  Unknown column 'a.attachmentType' in 'field list'

Looking at the database, I can see that everything is there--I have the member list, etc., but obviously I can't get the forum to show anything.  Any ideas?

Hello all,

Actually, I've just noticed that everything is showing up when I look at the forum as a guest, but it only gives me that "Unknown column 'a.attachmentType' in 'field list'" message when I attempt to log in or if I try to go anywhere beyond the main page.  Any ideas?

Reupload the upgrade package and make sure you overwrite all of the files.  After that run upgrade.php.

yes.. I have problem like this too
but I had version 1.0.7 , and I decided to move my forum to 1.1rc2 because for that version is avaliable affilate mod
and when I upload database from 1.0.7 to 1.1rc2 I see

Download the whole upgrade package and overwrite your forum files.  Then run upgrade.php

yes, but I decided to change directory..
earliest version is avaliable on .../smf/ (1.0.7)  and I want to move it to .../forum/ (and I installed 1.1rc2)
Have I to install in ../forum/ 1.0.7 version ,upload database and than upgrade with pack from "download" (http://www.simplemachines.org/download/)?
Or have I to upgrade 1.1rc2 through 1.1rc2 upgrade pack forum "download" ? It seems to be stupid for me, but I have some problems with foreign languages

Ok get the upgrade pack and overwrite the files on smf.  Run the upgrade after that rename smf to forum.  Once you rename use repait_settings.php to fix your path.
What is repair_settings.php?
