Difference between 1.0.7 and 1.1 R2

I recently created a forum using the 1.0.7 software.  What is the difference between this and the 1.1 R2?  Im assuming the latter is newer with more features.  Can or should I upgrade or would it be better to stay at 1.1 R2?  Thanks.
