Hey guys, technically the buttons are distributed as part of the SMF package and thus it is not alright to redistribute them at the present time.  We will be working on a system so that you can share themes and button sets but currently anything in the package may not be redistributed.  We are very thankful for Babylonking for allowing us to distribute his paid button set to all of you as part of the default theme and thus it is also unfair to him to redistribute his buttons in other colors.  Thanks.

If you need different color buttons for your forum then you have to order them. Or you can make your own.

In plain english what are you trying to say?

That the buttons, icons, avatars, et al, supplied with the version are off limits to re-colouring, modifying etc., etc. ?

If so please just say so, with reasons, and then I and others will understand?

I thought the font stood out well for a small font rather than the normal fonts (verdana, tahoma, etc) at 7px and 8px.

But now it seems there is more involved?

the font is in the same family as 04b_08 but is not exactly the same, but they won't tell me either because I still have the old community members helping each other mentality and fell bad charging for mods and graphics.

Thanks Aquilo, but I have the feeling that there's more involved than just the font.
I'm awaiting some clarification as to what is permitted with supplied buttons etc.
I have the feeling I've done something against the rules but not sure what.

I think making your own is OK! I think this distributing a paid probuct is like Microsoft using opensource in a distribution they don't go together and causes the conflict of interest we see here! if the distribution is open source then every thing in the distribution should fall under the same

there is more, I guess you mean I should ask for permission to offer and help here before giving away things (based on /derived from /modified from) works in the collective Package?! sorry, it's something I have to work on I've followed the community trying help where ever I could and until SMF that was always encouraged! but I will try to remember to bug someone before helping!

But this is obviously counseling a problem where folks don't even know if it's ok for them to change the color when asking the font face.

SMF should have it's own so use moders can add to the set with out going can I create a button for my mod or add a button for another SMF users, and SMF users can edit them without felling like they are in trouble, We are helping other users and expanding the usability for users and it's causing tension to whether or not we are doing something wrong.

I don't know I tell ya I'm lost trying to say how I fell it's getting hard to understand where SMF is going, I can't see anywhere that I or many other moders have hurt YaBB SE or SMF and you guys have even tried helping us with stuff like Supermod crap, but now I don't know if it's ok to make mods or consistent buttons and template style as needed, or even make a button when someone requests one, I understand that if say babylonking or someone makes a button set they should be the one to add buttons if asked, but it's confusing when the set with the Package can't be touched.
I don't know sorry for the babble I just have this uneasy felling about whether I can freely make mods with out getting in trouble like we did with YaBB SE, I'm just going to stand aside till I understand what I can freely modify and post here for other SMF users.

Aquilo, the point is the current license is not final.  We know there is an issue since without residtribution of themes and buttons then things are no fun.  We just ask for some paitience and also that you support babylonking as he donated this button set to us for free to use in the distribution for all of you.

sorry about that I was just stressing, and I do give props to babylonking the theme and buttons are extremely nice and has a pleasing contrast and calming nature to it! very nice. I be more patient to till everything gets worked out, sorry but all that!
