selectively email forum members?

hi,
is there a feature that i can "tick" the check box and select the members in the Admin > Members and "EMAIL to Selected Members"?

and also, i'm not sure whether it's my setup or is it due to my free host that when i try to "send newsletter", (using PHP default, not SMTP), it returns a Error 504 gateway error, or similar message... even when i only select 1 member to send newsletter to.

is there any ways that i can solve this problem on my free host?
