Hey!

I've been trying to make my own forum state icons but they don't really look that good.

I use Photoshop and was wondering if someone could help me make a set of 3 forum state images. (By forum state images I mean:

I had a go but this is all I came up with:

What I really want to know is how to get that 'faded' sort of effect.
Thanks!

OK, so you mean I'd need to use say a dark blue to grey gradient for the first (on.gif), then a lighter blue to grey gradient for the second (on2.gif) and finally just a grey color for the third (off.gif)?

This would be all good for the background, but what about the text?

Or should I set the layer mode of the gradient to 'overlay' and keep it above the text?

Oh, and thanks for helping out :)

You might find this tutorial on creating 'aqua' buttons in PSP useful as well as it can be used to give a nice glassy effect to graphics.

Thoughts are free, it's their consequences that often have a cost.
