SMF Version: SMF 1.0.7
Hiya, I'm having issues with my forum. I've been getting random error messages since yesterday and when I logged on today an error message said my database was at smf 1.05 while the rest of the site is at 1.07 and I needed to use upgrade.php.

Due to the error I couldn't get into my site maintenance area so I tried downloading the latest upgrade zip and uploading upgrade.php manually through my sites cpanel.

I got a completely blank screen. Tried changing the permissions through cpanel for settings and settings_bak and still got a blank screen. Tried uploading all the non-sub-folder files in upgrade zip (the ones not placed in sub folders), thus replacing the older files, and now I'm getting a blank white screen when I go to my forum too.

Currently, my settings and settings_bak permissions are all checked. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to sort this out?

Try to re-upload the upgrade package and run upgrade.php again. If that doesn't work you could always upload clean copies of version 1.07 files (remember not to overwrite your settings.php file!) and fix the errors from there.

You are normally warned of any errors during upgrade so its odd you now find these after you have upgraded.

I replaced the settings.php file with the one from the upgrade zip when I tried before. Gah! Thing is, I'm sure I was getting this exact same problem before I did that. If I've replaced the settings.php file with one from the upgrade zip, does that mean I've lost the main part of the forum? :-[

When you say re-upload, should I upload the sub-folder files in the upgrade package too?

It must have been early for me because there is no settings.php file in the upgrade package! So let me correct myself there. ;)

Just upload clean 1.07 files for your forum but do backup your settings.php file incase you overwrite it was what I meant to say. See what happens from there.

OH, sweet merciful jeebus! You had me worried there...! :P

That's it back up and sorted now. Phew! Thanks so much for your help Redone! HUGELY appreciated!!
