FTP Problem!!

SMF Version: SMF 1.0.7
OKay I uploaded all the board files sucessfully to the server via FTP. I went to the install page "japantown.awardspace.com/Board/install.php" and I typed in all the information a billion times and kept getting the message "Unable to connect to FTP server with this combination of details."

So I manually changed the files it asked me to change to 777.

It still wont let me get past step 0 (FTP part)!!!

What do I put in for server name? My website? Port is 21, right? My username and password are my FTP username and password?

for install path can i just put japantown.awardspace.com/Board

?

please help ive been at this for dayss

ok i just changed index.php to 777 because thats what the sticky topic above said to do, and not i get a 500 error once i go to /install.php

And make sure the files are still in the forum directory

Maybe you should try putting forward slashes in your Install path. Its all one word

first i set all the permissions to 777 (the ones it told me to) and it said 500 error.

so i changed index.php back to 755 and it had the ftp thing come up and i cant get past it.

I would try contacting your host and see what they say

4. What are my FTP settings so I can establish FTP connection?

The FTP setings are as follows:
  • FTP Host: all FTP Hosts are listed in your Control Panel, FTP Manager section on the bottom of the page
  • FTP Username: all FTP usernames are listed in your Control Panel, FTP Manager section
  • FTP Password: the FTP password you have assigned to your FTP account, for the default one FTP account if you haven't change it, password is the same as your initial hosting's account password
