DB User problem

Hey guys. I'm trying to bridge Joomla and SMF and I ran into a problem at the point of swapping database users: In Cpanel I added the SMF user to Joomla's database, but there's no selectable user for Joomla to be added to the SMF database. The user combobox contains one fewer item than the database combobox. I think there might not be an appendix to the Username for the Joomla database, only the prefix, and maybe that's why it's not visible. So I imagine if I could manually add the user through phpMyAdmin it should work. Does that sound reasonable? And how would I do that?

If you go to your Joomla admin panel, Global Configuration, Database tab, what is the value in the filed entitled "MySQL Username:" ?

Just "drule". Others in the Cpanel selection are all "drule_(something)".

I tried changing that setting in Joomla a few minutes ago just to see what would happen and everything stopped working so I changed it back.

Maybe add a new user to the Joomla DB in Cpanel, then change the Joomla settings?

Do you have a durel_durel in cPanel?

What user is listed in cPanel as the user that can access the Joomla database?

Well I uninstalled the bridge and SMF and then fixed the DB user, then I reinstalled SMF and the bridge, but I'm still getting the same errors:

Notice: Undefined index: lang_character_set in /home/dir/public_html/dir2/smf/Sources/Load.php on line 808
