SMF Version: SMF 1.0.7
Hi. This problem may have been addressed somewhere, but I have no clue how to narrow down my search, so I decided to post it.
I uploaded the SMF files to my webspace, and started the install. My server is brand new, and with godaddy. So when SMF asked me for a mysql database, I logged into my server, and created a database. But in the SMF installation, it asks for a table prefix. Godaddy didn't give me a table prefix. I see I can create one with phpmyadmin, but I don't know the first thing about creating tables and whatnot with mysql. So I didn't venture into that. So my installation can never complete. And I can only assume that I am not inputting the correct table prefix.
Please help.
Thanks.

Make one up, the table prefix is created by SMF :)

The table prefix is used for making the table names unique. This prevents SMF from breaking other scripts that might use the same table names and also allows for multiple installations of SMF on the same database. The default, "smf_", should be fine.

I think I did that. I created a database on my server. Put in the username, host name, and password in the SMF setup, and left smf_ as the table prefix, and it didn't work :(
