Unfortunately the bridge currently does not support OpenSEF - only supports Joomla's standard SEF

It was my understanding that they're going to work on getting a sef_ext.php file for SMF finished up once RC5 was released.

I read somewhere that someone got it working, (check OpenSEF forum) let me see if I can find it.

Hm in that case I'm not too sure.. I remember reading not too long ago that it wasn't useable with OpenSEF but they were starting development on the sef_ext file to get it working.. didn't realize it might be complete by now :P

what happens if you try using it your forum URLs will look like this.
http://www.yourdomain.com/forum,/www.yourdomain.com/forum/board,8.0 [nofollow]

Don't know why and whether this can only be fixed with sef-ext.php - or maybe there is some hack that could strip the double URL part.

I have OpenSEF and the bridge version 3.19 working just fine on www.kampforum.com, with a few minor (but annoying bugs):

  • When viewing personal messages you have an index with the message headlines at the top and the messages in full text underneath. Clicking on any headline in the index just takes you to the site frontpage. The error is the URL, that is in this form: http://www.kampforum.com/#18451, instead of this: http://www.kampforum.com/forumet/action,pm#18451. As you can see everything between .com and # is missing...

  • If I hit "reply" in a topic the reply window is opened. Under that window, there is a topic summary that lists the latest posts in that discussion. Each post has an "insert quote" button that is supposed to insert that post as a quote in your reply. If I click this link in my site, I just end up at the site frontpage. The function is a javascript thing that is supposed to put the quote into the reply box and send me back to the top of the reply window. The URL looks like this: http://www.kampforum.com/#top, instead of for example this: http://www.kampforum.com/forumet/action,post/topic=8870.0/num_replies=54#top. Again: The whole forumet-part is missing from the URL.

  • The "go down" and "go up" buttons at the top and bottom of each topic just links does not work. Same bug here: The URLs look like this: http://www.kampforum.com/#bot instead of for instance this: http://www.kampforum.com/forumet/topic,8870.0#bot.

  • When new reply notifications are sent out through e-mail, they have the wrong URL. Don't get me wrong: The URLs do work, but they mess up my forum statistics. People get mails saying "There is a new reply in a topic you are watching. Check it out on www.kampforum.com/index.php?option=com_smf ... etc, instead of saying: www.kampforum.com/forumet/topic,123/ etc. To calculate my forum stats I now have to add up all hits on /forumet with hits to index.php?option=com_smf. Working out which topic is the hot topic of the month is hard with these inconsistensies.

Torkil,
I see you are using SMF 1.1 RC1. So I assume you are using bridge 3.19a (as 3.19 was for SMF 1.0.x).
Looks like the SMF problems I reported in my erlier post were either introduced between RC1 and RC2 or infact in a later bridge.

Any suggestions? Willing to test...

edit: just did a test install using SMF 1.0.7 and 3.19 bridge. my strange URL problem is gone and i have path like Torkil. Btw, the G2 issue (see other post) doesn't show either.
Any idea what SEF changes may be causing this - maybe the code changes to include the header stuff automtically vs. manual template mod?

same problem here, would be really nice to get that issue in bridge fixed cause its preventing me from updateing the old Mambo-installation (were it works fine) to Joomla.

DazUlrich

hi,
tried rolling back to see where things started breaking.
When using bridge v3.19a with SMF 1.1RC2 the board and topic URLs come out as expected.
I don't have v1.1.2 (aks 3.20) for testing and Orstio removed it from the original announcement post.
Both 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 exhibit the descrivbed URL problem.

Any suggestions?

omidkosari

I have same problems .  :'(
is there anybody home ?!!

I have the same problem with the URL's as the others...

I think that pretty much answered it already....

DazUlrich

true.
I guess we were all just wondering as it did work with bridge 3.19a... you may have a flash of brilliance and with some pointers we could try figuring it out. I wanted to try v3.20 (1.1.2) but you removed the link from the old thread.

like you had a great hack for the gallery2 problem and you could have said that it has never been tested and wouldn't work.

Could you share at least the plan - is it something for OpenSEF to fix or will you look at that for future releases?

Thanks for the great job so far.

No, in fact OpenSEF did not work with 3.19.

Here is a prime example:

Open SEF has never been able to interpret SMF URLs correctly.  It's close, but not quite.  I believe Predator (the dev working on OpenSEF) has been working on this, but I'm sure much of his time has been spent on more important things as well.

DazUlrich

thanks.
When I said it worked - I mean the URLs were looking as they should... never tested for more.

Yes sorry had not time yet to work on this, but it is not forgotten.

Does this bridge work 100% on SEF Advance or 404SEF?

Please point out some sites as I would like to take a look.
