Problems with unwrapped mode with a "portaltheme"

The following problem exists:

I'm using the lasted Joomla and SMF RC2 and portalgray theme

When people use the forum from the mainmenu it runs good. The forum is wrapped in the website and everyting runs fine. When you go to the direct URL of the forum ( http://www.duken.nl/forums ) There is no template active because is not wrapped i think. I dont mind it because people use the forum within the website and not forum a direct URL.

Non of my topics are found in google so i turned on the SEF mode in SMF. The forum still runs good in wrapped mode but afther people reply or make a new topic the will be forwared to the SEF url like " http://www.duken.nl/forums/index.php/board,21.0.html " but theres no template active because the forum is unwrapped so it looks bad.

How can this happen and what can i do about this?

ps. When i use a normal SMF template the unwapped mode works fine with of without the SEF mode in SMF. But with the normal template the wrapped forum in the site is not good.

Because the bridge needs to rewrite the URLs so that they point back to Joomla, turning on SEF in SMF breaks the bridge.  The bridge is looking for standard SMF URLs, not SMF SEF URLs.  Because they are being rewritten by the bridge anyway, there really is no point in using SEF in SMF.

If you feel you need SEF URLs, turn them on in Joomla, not in SMF.

Ok, So the only way to turn on SEF in SMF with joomla is to use a unwrapped theme / forum? :-[

Kindred

no.... you can NOT use SEF on in SMF if you have the board wrapped OR unwrapped... only if you run "standalone" which requires some modification.

If you want SEF, turn it on in Joomla

But look at this!

This guy is also using joomla and SMF

In his unwrapped forum he get urls like:

http://www.limburgracingteam.nl/smf/index.php/topic,3308.0.html

and i get urls like:

http://www.duken.nl/forums/index.php?topic=14671.0

How can i turn this on? In the wrapped mode both forums are the same.

That's because he's not using a bridge.

mmm ok, could you please tell me more about it?

Because if i look to http://www.limburgracingteam.nl/ there is a bridge right? His forum is wrapped. Thx in advance

Kindred

yes... he is using a bridge... but the link that you gave originally is NOT a bridge link...
http://www.limburgracingteam.nl/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,49/topic,3308.0
is a bridged link...  (see the option,com_smf ?)

http://www.limburgracingteam.nl/smf/index.php/topic,3308.0.html
is not a bridge link....

you are partially correct... it looks like he does have some sort of SEF in SMF standalone and something in joomla...]
So...  I think you will have to ask HIM what he did...   but I assume that he is using some sort of conditional...

I did ask... he just installed joomla smf and the bridge like the manual said. And still its works. He doesn't even know why. So there is a way.....  ;)

Nope... if you reply to a topic you go to:

http://www.limburgracingteam.nl/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,49//topic,3308.new.html#new

So there must be a way!  :o
